Blood Donation Camp was inaugurated at Upendra Pai Memorial College, Kunjibettu, on April 11. The camp was jointly organized by the NSS Unit of the college, Friends Group, Udupi, and the Blood Bank Unit of KMC Hospital, Manipal.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Navami, Department of Immunohematology, KMC, Manipal. Addressing the gathering, she highlighted that blood donation is a noble act and that blood cannot be artificially produced in laboratories; it can only be obtained from healthy individuals. She explained that there is a constant need for blood, especially for cancer patients, accident victims and women during childbirth. She also noted that a single blood donation can help save up to three lives.
Mr. Vasanth Rao Karamballi, Honorary President of Friends Group, Udupi; Mr. Sandeep, President of Friends Group; Mr. Vishwesh Acharya, Technician from the Blood Bank Unit; Mrs Prabha Kamath, Principal Mrs. Asha Kumari, Director and Dr. Padmalatha, Director of Placements and Admissions, Faculty and students were present on the occasion.
