The Placement Cell and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of UPMC, in collaboration with Seventh Sense People Development Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru (SSPDS), organised a technical skill development session for the benefit of II Year and Final Year students. The programme was conducted with the objective of introducing and implementing the IBM SkillsBuild Skilling Programme, in collaboration with the NASSCOM Foundation and supported through IBM CSR initiatives. The programme aims to equip students with industry-relevant skills in emerging technologies, enhance their technical competencies, and improve their employability.
The three-hour interactive session, guided by Mr Hanumantha Talwar focused on the topic “Getting Started with Cyber Security.” The session provided students with an introduction to the fundamentals of cyber security, along with practical, hands-on learning activities that enabled them to gain exposure to key concepts and applications in the field. At the conclusion of the programme, students were required to complete an assessment. Students who successfully completed the assessment were awarded e-Certificates from IBM SkillsBuild. More than 100 students actively participated in the programme and successfully received their certificates.
As part of the initiative to establish a long-term industry–academia partnership, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between UPMC and Seventh Sense People Development Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru. The MoU is intended to strengthen the collaboration between the two institutions and facilitate further skill-based training programmes, industry-oriented learning opportunities, and internships for students.
The programme marked a significant step towards enhancing students’ exposure to emerging technologies and creating opportunities for continuous skill development in alignment with current industry requirements.
